Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 24, 2026
1. Introduction
Patnity ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Patnity patent prior art analysis platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform. Please read this policy carefully. By accessing or using Patnity, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials via Firebase Authentication (Google sign-in). We do not store passwords directly — authentication is handled by Google's Firebase Authentication service.
2.2 Uploaded Content
You may upload PDF documents (patents, prior art references, academic papers) for analysis. These files are processed to extract text content and are stored securely in our infrastructure.
2.3 Analysis Data
We store the results of patent analyses you perform, including claim text, claim element breakdowns, claim charts, motivation to combine arguments, and any other outputs generated by the platform.
2.4 Usage Data
We may collect information about how you access and use the platform, including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and the dates and times of your visits.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Patnity platform
- Process your patent analyses and generate AI-powered outputs
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Communicate with you about your account or the service
- Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the platform
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information or uploaded content to third parties.
4. Third-Party Data Processors
4.1 Firebase / Google Cloud
We use Google Firebase for authentication and data storage (Firestore). Your account data and analysis records are stored on Google Cloud infrastructure. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf and is subject to their Data Processing Addendum.
4.2 Anthropic (Claude API)
To generate AI-powered patent analyses, claim charts, and motivation arguments, we send relevant portions of your uploaded documents and claim text to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Anthropic processes this data solely to provide the analysis output and, per their commercial API terms, does not use your data to train their models. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy for additional details.
4.3 Hosting & Infrastructure
The Patnity web application is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may process request metadata (IP addresses, headers) as part of serving the application. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your account information and analysis data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may delete individual analyses at any time through the platform.
If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at the email address below. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. Note that some data may be retained in backups for a limited period after deletion.
Data sent to third-party processors (Anthropic, Google) during processing is subject to those providers' respective retention policies. Anthropic does not retain API inputs or outputs beyond the duration of the request under their commercial terms.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256), access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 10.
8. Cookies
Patnity uses essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Analytics, if enabled, use privacy-respecting methods that do not track individual users across websites.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
